I was tempted to review this maxi-single for two reasons. First, the electronic music project OLF is actually made up of the expressive singer Olga Rozhdestvenskaya and the acid-jazz band Moscow Grooves Institute. You"ve probably never heard of the singer, but the band is quite well known around town because it frequently performs at nightclubs and festivals and releases albums periodically. The second reason is that the album"s central song, "Les Chrysanthemes," which was produced a couple of years ago for a French anthology, has been a real hit in Moscow"s clubs this year. Everybody has heard and started to like this electronic group and is wondering what else the performers could sing. I would call "Les Chrysanthemes" a mini-album rather than a maxi-single because it only contains four original songs, three remixes and a video filmed for "Les Chrysanthemes." As for the songs, they are original electronic versions of Russian romantic tunes produced along the lines of "Les Chrysanthemes." As for me, I particularly liked "Ryabina" (Rowan). I bet it will be one of this year"s summer hits in Moscow"s nightclubs.
